The museum is located in one of the historic buildings in Longyearbyen. Originally the structure was used as a pigfarm.
For about thirty years the Svalbard Museum was located here, until they moved into the Forskningsparken in 2006.
the museum is easy to find, across the street from the church in Longyearbyen.
