The icebreaker Malyghin as well as the "Krassin" came to the rescue of Umberto Nobile and his team in 1928. However, the "Malyghin" had to turn around because of engine trouble.
A year after the accident of the "Italia", Nobile went with the "Malyghin" to look for the remains of the of the "Italia" and her crew that was not yet found.
